Easter: "Hallelujah", the Easter Song

Shaking earth, rumbling, grumbling, quaking,
Proclaiming an event, hitherto unannounced to the world
And virtually unfathomable, in the mind of natural man.
Golgotha, three crosses, standing high on a hill;
Jesus, a beaten, tired and weary man,
A good man, a godly man, a teacher of man,
By humankind, downtrodden,
His fate, in the hands of His heavenly Father;
A dying man, hanging helplessly on a cross,
In between two thieves,
One forgiven and the other unrepentant.
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Neither do they care; they are mere men,
Following the commands of others like themselves,
Men in positions of human authority.
“Father, into your hands, I commend my spirit.”
Simon, His disciple, the disciple who carried His cross,
Others and His mother, Mary, watch in horror;
He is impaled; seemingly, senseless cruelty.
“It is finished.”
Jesus, crucified by fellow man, for no apparent reason.
What is this man’s sin?
For this godly man, sin is virtually unfathomable,
Unknown, impossible to those who knew Him,
His time, His task on earth completed,
The skies filled with brilliant, cutting-edge lightning,
Billowing black storm clouds, the likes of which man has never seen,
Announcing His untimely death, right on time, in God’s agenda.
The skies reverberate with thunder, echoing through the hills.
Total darkness descends upon the earth.
His body taken from a huge, wooden cross;
Deep nail prints in His hands and feet.
A sword has pierced His side.
Human blood and gore;
His life taken by human hands;
Three, long days filled with tears and mourning;
Pain and sorrow for His followers.
A morbid silence prevails across the vast expanse
Of an unconscious, uncaring world.
His lifeless body, wrapped in a linen cloth, entombed within a cave.
A rock placed over the entrance,
The body sealed within the tomb of human insanity,
As if being encased forever is a possibility.
Three days, an early morning awakening,
With nature’s, joyful light embracing the stark reality of life.
Who has been here?
Perchance a miracle;
The stone rolled away.
The body is gone.
Where is He?
“I know not where He is; they have taken Him away.”
Mourning for a body, a missing human body,
One that should not have disappeared;
Mary, kneeling, weeping and praying;
The unexpected appearance of the Christ,
Unanticipated, majestic in glory, pure in Spirit.
All human sin erased forever for those who believe and receive.
What miracle of grace is this that has happened?
Who is this Christ, formerly a man, now appearing in Spirit?
What divine Man is this, who has risen from the dead?
Wherein is the secret of His glory?
Where can we find Him?
How can we know this is true?
We just know!
Sing Hallelujah!

The Easter song, “Hallelujah!” is a song of rejoicing.
