Excess baggage,
Not just the sands of time,
Lodged between our toes;
The senseless redundancy
Of unspoken thoughts
So needlessly suppressed;
The echoing and re-echoing
Of sweet sounding chimes
Unheard because the wind forgot
to blow;
The silent thunder and
lightning
Of the tragic storms of
life
Never arriving on time;
The weight of clouds
Billowing high in the sky
Yet never crashing;
The fury of inward scorn
From the furious
Never hurled, but
always expressed;
The inward pelting of rain
Silently
forming icy droplets
That hit no one;
Excess baggage,
The weight of the world
Not wanting or waiting to be
lifted.
Everyone carries excess,
emotional baggage.
